Legal form
What kind of entity it is, in the register's own code.
The Central Coordinating Register codes every entity with a legal form. AS — aksjeselskap — is the most common limited-liability company and requires share capital of at least NOK 30,000. ENK — enkeltpersonforetak, a sole proprietorship — is the most common form overall, and there the owner is personally liable for the debts.
Other forms a reader meets often: ASA for a public limited company, ANS and DA for general partnerships with joint and shared liability respectively, SA for a cooperative, STI for a foundation, FLI for an association, and NUF for a Norwegian-registered branch of a foreign company.
The form decides more than the name. It governs whether there is share capital, who is liable for the debts, and whether the entity has to file annual accounts at all.
